The climbing/bouldering guide describes areas in the immediate surroundings of Izmir – Kaynaklar, Gökdere and Kiriklar. The crags and boulders are
extremely close to the city, just 20–30 km to the east, and the beach is just a few steps further on. So once you’ve finished climbing, you can always
enjoy a relaxing evening by the sea … what more could you want?
The two areas, Kaynaklar and Gökdere, together offer over 300 sport climbing routes ranging from 4 to 8c+, and there are also a few trad routes. The area is rounded off by a small bouldering area – Kırıklar currently offers 63 boulders ranging from 4 to 7b+, as well as a number of boulders with plenty of potential. Those wishing to stay in the area a little longer can also head to nearby Manisa. There, among other things, the rewarding Sarikaya climbing area awaits with a further 170 routes.
The guide is simple and clearly laid out. All necessary Information is presented in tabular form or as pictograms –
grade, length, number of bolts, aspect, wall inclination and suitability for children. The topos are clearly marked on the photos.
The guide is written in both Turkish and English throughout.
