The small town of Tautavel, northwest of Perpignan, is surrounded by beautiful limestone walls. The climbing opportunities are spread over the following 7 compact areas: Les Gouleyrous, le Bousquet, la Devèze, Saint-Martin, l'Alzine, l'Alentou and le Château.
Together, there are a total of 30 sectors and 423 well-equipped climbing routes around Tautavel, ranging in difficulty from 3c to 9a. This makes it the largest connected climbing area in the Pyrénées-Orientales department.
The guidebook is clear and well structured and is limited to what is necessary - colour photo topos/grade/number of belay. In pictogram form, there is also information on the approach, orientation, wind and sun exposure, child-friendliness and height of the walls.
This topo guide to the walls of Tautavel is the product of enthusiasts. The planning, funding, setting up and maintenance of the areas has been and continues to be done on a totally voluntary basis. All proceeds from this topos will be used to further develop and inspect the routes on site.
