Climbing in the Mälaren Valley; counties Uppsala, Västmanland and Södermanland This climbing guide covers the climbing areas around Lake Mälaren (west of Stockholm) in the counties of Uppsala, Västmanland and Södermanland. It is a geographically large area of about 300 km in the north-south extension and therefore the author has decided to divide the book into three parts; the north, the centre and the south. In the northern part, near the cities of Västeras and Uppsala, you will find mainly small to medium-sized climbing areas with sport climbing as well as trad routes. In the middle / central part you will find mainly sport climbing routes and in the southern region you will find larger areas where you can mainly place your own belays.
