For many years, *Pietra di Luna* was the definitive guide to Sardinia, with regular new editions updating the guide to the latest developments. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of all the climbing and bouldering areas on the island – as of 2007. Regardless of the year of publication, however, the book remains thoroughly useful, as it describes various areas not included in any of the more recent climbing guides. We were able to acquire the last remaining copies of this book.
Maurizio Oviglia no longer pursued the concept of a comprehensive overview, as the ongoing opening of new routes on the climbing island of Sardinia simply exceeded the scope of a comprehensive guide. For several years now, Maurizio has therefore been taking a different approach and has published two volumes covering the areas on the east coast and in the south of the island.
Anyone wishing to climb in Sardinia who does not want to limit themselves to the areas around Cala Gonone and the south will find this guide, which is as clear as it is comprehensive, a great resource. There is a detailed description of every area. In addition to access, rock, climbing style, protection, ideal season, sun exposure and ‘must-climb’ routes, there is a brief description of each route. The topos are drawn on hand-drawn sketches and are often accompanied by informative action photos. At the start of the guide, there are several pages of FAQs regarding climbing.
