The long-established Pietra di Luna climbing guide for the whole island is history.
The complete work will now be split into several volumes. Due to the constant increase in new routes in Sardinia, this step makes perfect sense.
With Pietra di Luna - Sud Sardegna, another volume in this new series is now being published. The climbing guide is dedicated to the areas east of the Campidano plain - from Monte Arci (Oristano) to the Monti del Sarrabus (Sette Fratelli) and the marvellous coasts of Villasimius.
The south of Sardinia still has some lesser-known and therefore quieter crags to offer on the climbing island.
In addition to Villasimius, a cliff of perfect granite, two other areas with routes in the finest granite have been created with the recently established crags of Garibaldi and Montezuma.
Further north, towards Oristano, there is also an important new addition: Segariu. With its almost 150 routes, the area is probably the most important new thing in Sardinia in recent years - routes only 15 metres long, but high-quality limestone, from grade IV to 8b+.
Also worth mentioning is the revitalised Furtei. Completely renovated, it is now a super-friendly climbing garden with many easy routes.
Samugheo, not far away, offers many crags in just one square kilometre and is also a great place to camp. Not too many people know this area yet, but the crag is one of the most beautiful in Sardinia.
All the areas included in this volume are up to date as of 2025.
