WEST SUDETY: Cliffs around Jelenia Góra, Wojcieszów, Złotoryja and Lviv ŚląskiIt's fair to say that there hasn't been a new climbing guidebook for a long time that presents so many climbing opportunities that have never been described before. One such guide is the topo “SUDETY ZACHODNIE. Rocks around Jelenia Góra, Wojcieszów, Złotoryja and Lviv Śląski” by Michał Kajca. The author spent a whole 10 years (!) collecting, researching, interviewing and verifying information and photographic material. The result is a 368-page guidebook that describes 33 climbing areas with 1057 (including 595 sport climbing routes) climbing routes and variations. Furthermore, the variety of formations and types of climbing is impressive. Suffice it to say that the routes are in no less than 8 different types of rock: sandstone, crystalline limestone, basalt, rhyolite, metatrachite, granite, granite gneiss and diabase. There are some easy routes, including those suitable for children (marked with a pink symbol), but there are also a number of difficult climbs and even some extreme climbs. For trad climbers, there is a really impressive list of objectives here. There are also 26 interesting traverses described. In addition to the detailed topographical section (clear lines in photos, maps, approach descriptions and GPS coordinates) and the almost 150 climbing photos, the author always places importance on the history of climbing in the areas he describes. This time is no different - in addition to a general historical outline, the book contains seven memoirs by climbers who have gone down in the history of exploring the local crags. 368 pagesLanguage PolishEdition 2024M.Kajca

Bouldering in the northern part of the Czech Republic, close to Ostaš / Adršpach Bor is located not far (southeast) from Ostaš in the north of the Czech Republic and is also characterized by the best sandstone - stronger and finer than Ostaš. Bouldering is done on the blocs, often with slopers as a grip. On 311 blocks are 1445 problems to solve! These are listed in the bouldering guidebook. More potential is definitely there and you can certainly create your own problem in the middle of the spruce thicket.
The book is in Chezh, however it is so well done that you do not need to understand the language to come to this bouldering area and solve the problem. You will find the GPS coordinates, very good site plans, the best topos as well as pictograms in English. All of difficulties are presented, however predominant are 6A to 6C.
