There are several worthwhile climbing destinations in the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) or at the foot of the Ore Mountains. These are located in the vicinity of the town of Ostrava nad Ohri. This in turn is not far from Karlovy Vary. This is a great way to combine culture, canoeing and, of course, climbing. The predominant climbing rock is gneiss (except in Semnice, where it is granite) and this often offers climbs of moderate difficulty, mainly in the 4 and 5 UIAA range.The areas are called in detail: Merklin, Johanka, Hroznetin, Kocicarna (near Jachymov) and Semnice (directly on the Ohre).The climbing guide is up-to-date. In the new edition, the authors present all climbing areas in the Ore Mountains in detail. Except for the Müglitz Valley in the Eastern Ore Mountains, that will be described in the climbing guidebook "Dresden and Surroundings", which will be published in spring 2023. In recent years, especially in the Westerzgebirge, some climbing areas - such as the Märchenwand area near Breitenbrunn - have been newly created, which are presented for the first time in the new climbing guide.
