Climbing in the western Pyrenees, right on the border between France and Spain.
The Vallée d' Ossau is a very scenic valley with huge climbing potential.
Everything is on offer - from the sport climbing slab surrounded by lush meadows to the 800 metre-long ascent in high alpine terrain. Alpine climbing of mostly moderate difficulty and sport climbing routes make up roughly equal parts of the guide.
The climbing guide is richly illustrated. The mostly beautiful colour photographs illustrate many of the walls and areas described. The topos are mostly shown on simple sketches, rarely are they placed over photographs.
The guide divides the valley into 12 areas. Each area is then subdivided into different sectors. All sectors of an area are characterised by pictograms and illustrated by a map. There is information on child-friendliness, orientation, climbing style, approach time, rain shadow, number of routes, difficulty levels and wall heights. Under the topos you will find precise information on the length and grade of the individual routes and the type of protection.
Multi-pitch routes are also described in text form (information on required equipment, protection, route finding).
